Preplanning Big Idea: Self-development and interpersonal skills are essential to handling work situations effectively among diverse people. Essential Questions: What are the factors to building good relationships? What is ethics? (definition) What are your personal strengths? What skills are needed to be a team member? What skills are needed to be a leader? Do you have what it takes to be a team player? Leader? Objectives: Recognize the personal traits necessary for ethical action in the workplace Identify important interpersonal skills Perform effectively in diverse environments Manage conflict by using appropriate negotiation skills Discuss how to receive and handle customer complaints Identify skills needed to be a good team member and provide leadership Name six aspects of successful teamwork Summative Assessment:
Presentation (Google Slides, PowerPoint or Prezi) on the different skills with definitions and closing with how these skills would be beneficial in and out of the workplace.

Lesson Opening Bell ringer: To begin the lesson students will take two short quizzes on words that are common in the workplace. After the quiz we will discuss how and/or where each word or phrase could be used in a business setting. Business Terms and Expressions Telephone Vocabulary
Lesson Body Explanation: How one acts and reacts in life and in business can have a direct effect on how successful one could and/or will be. Knowing how to build relationships is a vital skill in the workplace. In this lesson students will learn the key terms along with certain skills they need to be aware of in order to effectively work with others and in a work environment.
Using Free Translation (if on a netbook/laptop) students will translate the following key terms of the chapter. They student choose to use their hand-held devices they may choose to use the Speak and Translate app for iPhones or Photo Translator for android phones: Key Terms

Once translations are complete they will use the eFlashcards that are available as part of our online textbook website to learn the definitions of the key terms. Students can copy and paste the definitions into Google Translate to read and/or listen to the pronunciations.
As we go through the chapter students will have the eFlashcardspulled up to be able to connect them with the text.
Closing Lesson closing: Prior to assigning the presentation, as a class, we will visit Presentation Vocabulary and Presentation Phrases so I can demonstrate or answer questions if needed.
